Nettle

Nettle is the star ingredient in Nana Essence hair products as having hypoallergenic properties that promotes hair growth. It is a perennial flowering plant that has been used medicinally for ages dating back to Ancient Greek times. Nettle is well known as a natural allergy relief remedy due to its antihistamine and anti-inflammatory qualities. A study conducted in Penn State University College of Medicine showed the effectiveness of nettle in treating eczema, a skin condition caused by allergic response of rash and red, itchy skin to chemicals.

Birch leaf

Birch leaf contains tannins, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals. It is a detoxing herb that has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and as such used in treating various skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, as well as urinary complaints, cystitis, rheumatic and arthritic conditions. It is often used to reduce hair loss.

White Oak

White Oak is a large tree that can live for several hundred years. It has been widely used throughout history to treat illnesses and wounds since it acts as an astringent and antiseptic. Its high level of tannins allows for shrinking and constricting the tissues of the body, contributing to its effectiveness in treating skin conditions such as burns, abrasions and eczema as well as external bleeding, varicose veins and infection control.

Laboratory studies have shown rosemary to be rich in antioxidants. It is effective in eliminating muscle pain, busting the immune and circulatory systems and promoting hair growth.

Chamomile

(Matricaria Recutita) is well known for its daisy-like flowers that contain healing oils such as bisabolol, both A and B and matricin and flavonoids. It has been used for centuries for various conditions such as fevers, colds, stomach ailments and many others. Extensive scientific research established chamomile’s benefits as antipeptic, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-allergenic properties. Marshmallow (Althaea)

Marshmallow (Althaea), not to be confused with the white fluffy sweet treat, is an African plant with short round leaves and small pale flowers. It is commonly used for sore throats and dry coughs having a soothing effect on inflamed membranes due to its flavonoids that contain anti-inflammatory properties. Marshmallow extract is also added to creams to treat skin conditions such as eczema and contact dermatitis. Marshmallow is effective in healing scalp irritation and repairing damaged hair
